How do meets and competitions work?
Each week at Souths meets, times and height/distances are recorded for each Little Athlete for the events they participate in, with the focus being on fun and personal bests.
Throughout the season, children aged U9 to U17 will be offered the opportunity to take part in Regional and Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ)-organised carnivals - a select few also allow for children aged U6-8 to register and participate. These are larger-scale competitions (than our usual Saturday club meets) against athletes from different clubs. The emphasis is on athletes of all abilities doing their best and having fun while supporting your fellow Souths team mates. Several of these events are held at facilities with a tartan running track and electronic timing systems.
More information about these events is available here. We will share further information and registration details closer to the dates for each event. All Souths athletes are encouraged to give these carnivals a go when you are eligible and your schedule allows. Each eligible family will receive an email invitation to these carnivals throughout the season. Some competitions will come with an additional extra fee to be paid by families, and competitors must wear a Souths uniform top (polo shirt, singlet or crop top) with solid black shorts.
How do I see my child's results?
Your child's results will be shared to ResultsHQ and can be accessed there. Ultimately, all results will be uploaded and available through the Sports 80 site.
What do I do as a parent during meets?
Help from parents, carers and supporters is vital for supporting our athletes and keeping events running smoothly. From setting up and packing down equipment, raking, spiking, and measuring to recording results, managing age groups, officiating, time keeping, and helping to coach our young athletes — every role is important.

Little Athletics isn't a safe activity in heavy rain. All information about cancellations of meets will be communicated via Facebook and Stack team app.

Little Athletics allows children over the age of 11 to wear spikes for track events jumps and javelin, children of any age are permitted to wear specialist throw shoes. Children under the age of 11 who would like to wear specialist shoes are permitted to wear waffle shoes.
